I started making cakes when I was 19 at a scratch bakery located in Tempe, Arizona in 1989. After moving to the Lake Norman area in 1997 and getting a job at the local bakery, I just couldn't believe they shipped everything in frozen and pre-made. About this time, my husband got on with the Mooresville Post Office. I had to make a choice of changing my chosen career, or placing our son into day care since my husband and I would both be working the day shift. A third option presented itself and I opened my own business in 1998, running it from my home. Our 2 car garage was turned into a single. We put up walls and insulation, bought a freezer, a 2 door industrial refrigerator, 3 mixers, a work bench and I was on my way. I have really enjoyed working with my brides and creating her perfect cake. I have been told many times how wonderful my cakes looked, but more importantly, how moist and tasty they were. I am still going strong here doing what I love to do. I am now up to 3 sons; their ages are 13, 9 and 6. My husband and I are content with this, so there will not be a number 4!
